"Time for lunch, class."

Damian stuffed his books in his bag and got up. Grayson had been right the day before. After a good night's sleep he was right as rain again. So back to school it was. Just his luck.

Discreetly he glanced to his left at a girl who had been watching him since yesterday he'd noticed.

When their eyes met the girl quickly looked away.

He couldn't remember her name and didn't care either. Girls where a distraction nothing more. Even if she did look sort of pretty with her curly blond hair and bright green eyes.

--------------------------------------------------

At lunch Damian was sitting alone again. Nobody had dared to sit with him since the incident during the fieldtrip. He was fine with it.

From the corner of his eye he saw the girl looking at him again. Sitting next to her was a guy who was clearly older then her. When the guy caught her watching him he elbowed her and said something that Damian couldn't hear. But the girl stopped looking at him and looked at her lunch instead. The guy gave him a look that he thought was supposed to intimidate him.

He ignored it and just ate his lunch.

----------------------------------------------------

In the schoolyard Damian had taken his pose against the wall of the school. With his arms crossed he scowled at every kid that dared to come too close to him. It worked pretty well. Since Tuesday nobody had come closer to him than was necessary.

So he was quite surprised when he saw the girl standing just a few feet from him. When their eyes met she even dared to come closer.

"Hey."

Did she just talk to him? He gave her a look that clearly wasn't an invitation. But she didn't seem to get the message.

"My name's Jessica."

Damian swallowed. No other choice than to talk to her then.

"Damian." he hoped that the hostility in his voice was enough to scare her away. Apparently it wasn't.

"I know that."

He looked at her face this time. She really was pretty. He didn't know what to say.

"You haven't been to school before, haven't you?"

He shrugged.

"You don't talk very much, do you?" she asked.

"Tt." was his only reaction.

"Do you like me?"

Okay, that surprised him. What was he supposed to say to that? He didn't have time to like girls let alone talk to them about stuff like this.

"I'm not even going to grace that question with an answer." Damian replied.

The girl looked slightly hurt at that answer. Good. Maybe now she would go away. But before he could make another comment the guy that had been sitting next to her during lunch walked right up his face.

"Were you bothering Jess?" The kid almost sounded like he owned the girl. And he looked like he was aching for some sort of fight. This was something Damian could handle. In the background he saw Jessica backing away. So he just crossed his arms and glared at the kid in front of him.

The kid took a step forward.

"Are you going to say something or what?" There was no denying the threat in the kid's voice. But Damian didn't care. If he took one more step towards him he would show him how to bother someone.

The kid took one more step forward.

With one swift movement Damian grabbed the kid's arm and twisted it unto his back. The kid didn't even have time to cry out. He just gasped and sank to his knees.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry." he whimpered, "Please let me go."

Around them other kids started to look into their direction, so Damian let the arm go. The kid cradled his hurt arm to his chest en slowly crawled backwards.

"What kind of freak are you?!" he cried, tears now streaking his face.

"One you will not bother again." with that said Damian turned around intending to walk away. But the moment his back turned he could hear the kid getting up. When he faced him again he was just in time to catch the fist sloppily aimed at his head. This time he wouldn't be so kind.

He caught the fist in his hand and sharply twisted the arm to the side. A snap was heard and the kid cried out in pain. But Damian wasn't finished. He let the kid sink to his knees again before he balled his own fist and punched him hard on the side of his head. That would give him a good concussion. The kid fell to his side and didn't move again.

Around him the other kids just looked at him with shocked expressions.

"What is going on here!" Damian looked up.

Walking toward him was principal Harrison followed by Jessica, who was pointing towards him.

"You!" the principal's finger was pointing to him. "Get in my office. Now!"

Damian just shrugged and started walking towards the entrance of the school. Behind him could hear the principal instructing one of the teachers to get the school nurse. He couldn't help but smirk at the sound.

----------------------------------------------------

Damian had been waiting for almost an hour, sitting in a chair in front of the principal's office. No one had talked to him. Not even the principal himself who had passed him twenty ago to go into his office.

Just when he started thinking that no one would come for him a door opened and someone walked up to the front desk.

"I'm here for Damian Wayne?"

Damian head snapped up. Grayson was here? Then he lowered his head again. Might as well get it over with.

Grayson walked towards him and gave him a look that clearly said 'we will have a talk later'. Damian just gave him a look back. He didn't regret beating up the kid. He deserved it. He watched as Grayson disappeared in the principal's office.

After waiting another 30 minutes Grayson appeared again. He gave Damian a stern look.

"Get in the car." It was an order.

Damian got to his feet, grabbed his backpack and stalked out the door. He heard Grayson coming after him.

"The guy deserved it." he muttered under his breath. He could hear Grayson's head snap up.

"What was that?"

Damian knew Grayson heard him but denied anyway.

"Nothing."

Grayson sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.

----------------------------------------------------

"What did the brat do this time?" Jason asked as he could hear muffled talking coming from Damian's room. He put aside the gun he was cleaning and looked at Tim who was sitting on a dresser across from him fiddling with some sort of electrical weapon.

Tim looked up from his work and shrugged, "Beat up a kid at school."

Jason snickered. "Why doesn't that surprise me?"

Tim gave him a look. "Why are you still here, anyway?" he asked.

This time Jason snorted, "Alfie wouldn't let me leave. Said he wanted to monitor me at least for a few days."

"Aren't you supposed to be in bed then? Instead of hanging around with me in the hallway."

Jason shrugged, "It was just a scratch." but as he jumped of the dresser he was sitting on he couldn't hide a wince.

"Just a scratch, huh?" Tim said.

"Whatever." Jason waved his hand absently, "I'm beat. I'm going to get some shut-eye."

"I'm so glad to hear you say that, master Jason. I was afraid I had to use some force to get you to lay down this time, but apparently I was wrong." Alfred said as he carried a basket with laundry into the hallway. He gave Tim a stern look. "May I remind you that if you want to sit there are plenty of chairs in the living room?"

Tim grinned and jumped of the dresser. "Sorry, Alfred."

"What were you two doing in the hallway anyway?" Alfred asked with raised eyebrows.

Tim and Jason looked at each other.

"Just making sure Dick doesn't give Damian up for adoption." they said at the same time.

So it's been a while, but here is a new chapter finally!

I've got the epilogue ready too, so that will be uploaded later today.

It's not beta'd so I'm sorry for any mistakes.
